SELATI is my family name – it belonged to my mom before it belonged to this work. She taught me that jewelry is not just ornament, but the thing you reach for when you want to feel like yourself. I wear her pieces every day, and they make me feel both closer to her and more like me. She made fine jewelry unpretentious; the occasion was when she wore it, and that was the true luxury. It was a serious lesson from my funny, unserious mom.

As an architect, I’ve spent years thinking about form, structure, and the significance of something built to outlast the moment by which it was inspired. Jewelry asks similar questions at a different scale, and this studio is my answer.

My mom was also a maker. From needlepoint belts to quilts, she made things for people that have been used and loved far beyond the moments that inspired them. Making was her prescription for joy, and she did it while wearing her nicest jewelry.

Now it’s my turn, and I’m doing it in my nicest jewelry, too.

Welcome to SELATI. The occasion is when you wear the good stuff.

Love,
